Friday Night Musings

It’s Friday night at 9:25pm and the girls are in bed. It’s beautifully quiet right now. Wanted to quickly share a couple of thoughts.

I’m really looking forward to taking in the Cross of Christ this Sunday. The New Testament presents the death of Christ as a multifaceted diamond that gets more awe-inspiring, more beautiful and more captivating each time you study it.

We’re less than a month away from Easter morning! Please consider who you’re going to invite to our pancake breakfast that starts at 9:00am and runs through 10:30, followed up by our Easter service beginning at 11:00am.

We’re down to our last 5 Sunday’s in the Gospel of Luke. All told we’ll have spent 76 Sunday’s examining the life of our Lord Jesus as told by Dr. Luke! I’ve loved it and at the same time, I’m really looking forward to continuing the story through the Acts of the Apostles.

I’m incredibly thrilled and thankful for the new deacons at Mid-Valley. These men are making huge contributions to our church and we’re incredibly lucky to have them.

The great theologian Robert Allen Zimmerman, also known as Bob Dylan once wrote,

The line it is drawn

The curse it is cast

The slow one now

Will later be fast

As the present now

Will later be past

The order is rapidly fadin’

And the first one now will later be last

For the times they are a-changin’

The times are certainly a-changin’ and we’ve seen our fair share of change at Mid-Valley. Let me highlight a couple of changes that are currently in the works at Mid-Valley.

In the past two weeks we’ve purchased new equipment to completely renovate our worship experience on Sunday morning. A new soundboard, speakers, a new computer, two new projectors and some other smaller items. We’re hoping over the next couple of weeks to get it all installed and the kinks worked out before Easter Sunday.  Juan Rodriguez has spent many hours this past month investigating what equipment we need and installing it. If you get a chance, please tell Juan ‘thank you’ for his time and effort.

Within the next couple of month’s we’re going to start construction on our outdoor baptismal! This is something I’m really looking forward to. While baptizing people in the Wenatchee River is beautiful there’s not adequate access to it, which limits many people in our congregation from being able to witness and celebrate another person being baptized! We want to create a beautiful and inviting space at Mid-Valley so that whole church family can gather around and celebrate what the Lord is doing!

Another goal that the Elders and Deacons are pursuing is the blacktopping of the church parking lot. This is a huge project with an equally huge price tag: approximately $100,000. Part of good stewardship of our facility is maintaining and improving the existing conditions and we all recognize that the parking lot is in need of an improvement. If you’d like to help financially, please drop me a line!

Well, that’s it for now. Hope you have a fantastic weekend. See you Sunday.

First time reviewing this page. Like what I see. God is at work and moving even when we don’t always aware.
